A brief history of Del Ron Campsite
Our history started in 1973 with the purchase of a small and sloping parcel of land alongside the river. The parcel was called "Lou Ron" (Occitan for "the Rock"). Everything needed to be done: clear the land; create an access on the slope; build the shower/toilet blocks; and attract guests with a few hand-written signs. There was no Reception, and our guests were welcomed in the open at a small table set in the shade... Odile and Alfred had embarked on an adventure: Del Ron campsite was born!
Over the years, the plot of land was enlarged, and every summer Odile, Alfred and their three children made the small business thrive. Every penny earned was reinvested to improve our services. Many guests became family friends, returning summer after summer to enjoy the holiday sunshine.
A few years later...
Odile and Alfred officially handed over to their son Hervé in 1991. He took up the reins enthusiastically, continuing to develop the business: one star, then two, then three. He founded the Pizzeria Del Ron, and his secret recipe is a success!
The campsite expanded, adapted to holiday-makers’ new expectations and offered more and more on-site activities and services. Hervé put together a small team, distributed the roles and tasks, and coordinated everything.
Today:
Using his experience and wisdom, Hervé employs a team of 7 or 8 seasonal workers each summer; he puts his faith in young people and shares out responsibilities.
Each year, trusty employees mix with a few seasonal workers from various backgrounds to recommence the adventure, creating the campsite’s dynamic and convivial atmosphere.
